FunctionsThe National Library of Armenia is a nation-wide institution. It is the principal state library, which serves the information needs of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia. Its primary functions are:Organization, preservation, and provision to its users of the most comprehensive collection of national publishing output, as well as works of informational and practical value published abroadCompilation and publication of bibliographic indices and scholarly studies concerning the Armenian book, and the fields of national bibliography and library scienceCentralized provision of scholarly information, methodology of librarianship, bibliography, Armenology, interlibrary loan, and cultureParticipation in public policy planning and implementation regarding library and information science
The National Library of Armenia is the preservation center for the national and cultural patrimony and the literary heritage of the Republic of Armenia.The National Library provides materials for exchange with other libraries, booksellers, and informational organizations in more than thirty countries. It collaborates with organizations and institutions in Armenia.The Library has immediate relations with the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX), the Armenian Branch of the Open Society Institute Assistance Fund, and the Eurasia Foundation. The Library is a member of the Library Assembly of Eurasia. The Armenian Library Association is headquartered in the National Library. Library specialists are involved in international library cooperation.
