Description

The Herzog August Library houses an important and homogeneous collection of manuscripts coming from one of the carolingian religious and intellectual centres: the Wissembourg Abbey in Alsace. This collection was digitised in the context of the Europeana Regia project. It contains 89 items including manuscripts regarding law codes: Lex salica. Capitularia, Lex Alamannorum and Leges et Capitularia, as well as religious literature, for example the family of manuscripts relating to the cult of St. Martin, called Martinellus, mostly written in France and Germany and dated to the early 9th century, the Commentarius in psalmos by Cassiodorus and the Acta Apostolorum apocrypha. Finally the collection contains works by several Latin authors, for example the Commentarius by Origines.
