Description

This collection contains digitised copies of some of the major treasures held by the National Library in Warsaw. It brings together Manuscripts (118), early printed books and Books (23), Graphic materials and Drawings (14), Photographs (6), Maps and Atlases (5) created between the 10th and 20th centuries. Most objects come from Poland but there are also items from France, Italy, Austria, Netherlands, UK, Russia and Switzerland. Among the most valuable items are manuscripts in Latin, French, Cyrillic, German, Arabic, Armenian, Turkish and Italian languages. Worth mentioning are the Florian Psalter, Holy Cross Sermons, Gniezno Jan Dlugosz, Psalter Wilanów and cosmography of Ptolemy. Most are important music manuscripts that reconstruct the history of the music in Poland and Europe. The collection gathers also numerous autographs and first editions of several Polish authors.
