User get their say in the development of The European Library

The European Library is pleased to announce the introduction of its Users Advisory Board. The members of the Board are drawn from across the international library and academic community. Their input will help shape the development and strategy of The European Library portal based on user input.

The European Commission supports Europeana

Europeana will bring together millions of digitised resources from Europe’s archives, museums, libraries and audio-visual collections through a single portal. The test website of the European Digital Library was demonstrated to holders of digital content on February 1st, 2008 in Frankfurt.

A step further towards The European digital library

Over 180 representatives of cultural institutions from across Europe are meeting in Frankfurt on January 31/February 1 2008. The event will be opened by Horst Forster, Director in the European Commission's Directorate general for Information Society and Media.

The conference aims at highlighting and discussing The European Library's role in building the European digital library. It is also an opportunity to discuss strategic, technical and semantic interoperability options between museums, archives, libraries and audio-visual institutes.
