More translations, unique historical content and rich media - The European Library launches renewed website’

"The new portal incorporates many of the recommended enhancements from user feedback studies. Top of the list was more multilingual facilities. As a result, users can now navigate and scan over 330 collections in their native language. Support materials, including FAQs and a first-time user guide, are available in 22 European languages."

The European Library is pleased to announce the introduction of its Users Advisory Board. The members of the Board are drawn from across the international library and academic community. Their input will help shape the development and strategy of The European Library portal based on user input.

Workshop delivers more pieces for the European digital library jigsaw
Using video and sound archives, searching within old maps, reading rare texts and manuscripts held by the National Libraries of Europe: it should all be possible online within 12 to 18 months from now! Conference "Digital Future of Cultural and Scientific Heritage" saw policy makers call for collaboration to create a European digital library.

The European Library is getting bigger - The European Digital Library project
Thanks to the newly started European Digital Library project (EDL project) a further 9 national libraries are brought into the network. Countries involved are either members of the European Union or the European Free Trade Association: Belgium, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Spain and Sweden. The action will enrich The European Library with up to 100 new collections. The project started in September and will run for 18 months. For further information please visit: http://edlproject.eu.
