What is The European Library Interface?
The European Library Interface defines the multilingual interface of the portal .The European Library provides more than 386 collection descriptions currently translated into 36 languages. The "Home" and "Collections" sections of the website (including error messages) are translated into each of the partners' languages. For more details, please refer to language policy.
The Interface Translation tool
The European Library Office has developed an Interface translation tool for partners to submit new interface translations or to edit existing interface translations :
The European Library Office has also implemented two special "language" displays to help interface translators:
The following page link: http://search.theeuropeanlibrary.org/portal/xx/index.html displays "XXXXX" to show which sections of the interface require translation. This is helpful (especially for The European Library office) for understanding which texts on the portal interface are included in the interface translation tool.
The following page link: http://search.theeuropeanlibrary.org/portal/tag/index.html displays the translation tags on the portal interface for each of the texts that require translation. It is helpful for understanding where a text that requires translation appears on which page.
