Step 1: Adapt technical infrastructure to the European Library portal environment


The European Library provides three protocols to access to collections in the portal. Partners have to choose between these three protocols.

    1-the OAI-PMH protocol, that is the preferred access:

Step 2: Provide collection descriptions


Submit collections via the Collection descriptions Editor, after registration.

Complete the Requirement Analysis Questionnaire.(78.4 KB)

Follow the schema of data elements described in The European Library Application profiles and listed in the Metadata Registry.

Test your metadata and compare the results from The European Library and your local interface.(116 KB)

Consider implementing your collections in Unicode and UTF-8


Step 3: Manage collections descriptions and interface translations


Submit or update translations using the interface translation tool accessible after registration.

Update collections descriptions using the Collection descriptions Editor after registration.
